Sean Perry is the President, Co-founder, and Executive Director of We R H.O.P.E. Inc., a dedicated organization focused on providing mental health support to children. Sean’s journey into the mental health field was deeply personal. He struggled with anxiety and suicidal thoughts throughout his life, leading him to some dark places. As a father, the idea of his children facing similar struggles deeply affected him. This realization drove him to create a platform where children could openly discuss their feelings, receive support, and ultimately lead healthier, happier lives.
Sean describes his leadership style as transformational. He believes in inspiring and motivating his team to achieve their full potential and create meaningful change. We R H.O.P.E. Inc. stands out in the industry by offering more support with fewer resources. They provide children with daily, half-hour sessions five days a week, more than any other program except for residential ones. Additionally, they bring direct support to schools, ensuring children receive the help they need within their educational environment. One of the major challenges faced by the organization was finding ways for schools to fund their services. Historically, they did not accept insurance, making it difficult for schools to afford the program. This year, they pivoted and began accepting insurance, significantly reducing costs for school districts by 75% or more.
Sean considers the creation and success of We R H.O.P.E. Inc. his greatest accomplishment. Despite skepticism and opposition, the organization has proven effective, with children and families benefiting from their services, as evidenced by published data. Innovation within the organization is driven by the belief that anything is possible and ensuring all voices are heard. This inclusive approach has been key to their success and growth. We R H.O.P.E. Inc. was built with a strong emphasis on work-life balance. Coaches work only 30 hours a week, allowing them to maintain a healthy balance. While Sean works more, he has learned to set boundaries and focus on his personal life when at home, ensuring he enjoys his time and stays healthy.
Throughout his career, Sean Perry has learned the importance of not comparing himself to others. His focus shifted to being the best version of himself daily and striving to outwork his past self. This mindset has helped him achieve success and find fulfillment in his work. Sean advises aspiring business leaders to fully immerse themselves in their work without letting it consume them. He emphasizes the importance of passion and dedication, likening it to needing to breathe. He also encourages embracing failure, as it is through failure that one discovers their true self and ultimately finds success.
To stay informed about emerging trends and market changes, Sean conducts extensive research and surrounds himself with knowledgeable individuals. This approach ensures that he remains updated and well-prepared for any industry shifts. Sean’s strategy for adapting to unexpected changes or challenges centers around perception. He works hard to reframe any challenge or problem, allowing him to stay calm and make thoughtful, strategic decisions. This positive outlook has been instrumental in overcoming obstacles. Communication is key to cultivating a positive company culture at We R H.O.P.E. Inc. Sean believes in regularly checking in with his team to ensure their needs are met. He understands that as a leader, his success is closely tied to the well-being and satisfaction of his team members.
Looking ahead, Sean aims to expand We R H.O.P.E. Inc.’s program to more states, with the goal of reaching all 50 states eventually. He is also working on the development of Tabula Rasa Academy, a therapeutic day school and residential center. This innovative institution will combine education and mental health support, providing a holistic approach to child development that is unparalleled in the country.
